New High School Campus Updates: No Summer Fling for Students

The monthly Student Site Council meeting that was held yesterday brought some unfortunate news to students interested in helping with teachers/clubs packing their items. Due to the sluggish development of the permits needed for the development of the roads (35th street), only TPAA faculty members will be allowed to enter the campus during the time of unpacking their things into their new classrooms.
That means no students, parents, or citizens of any kind will be allowed to access the 50 million dollar campus, for any reasons. It’s an unfortunate update for sure, as many students would have loved to help their favorite teachers or clubs unpack their things to get started on the many years to come at the new campus.
However, do not grow weary of the progress of the new campus Griffins! While the permits for the roads are taking longer than usual, the school is still set to open in August.
Dr. Herman did create a form of a resolution to this problem however. While it is not official, Dr. Herman did share interest on having a day of tours and orientations for both returning and new classmates on August 4th— the Friday before the first day of school. As mentioned before, this is not official, so don’t go telling your parents just yet, but it is likely that an event like this would happen.
A problem that relies on this is the usage that Fall sports have on the campus to practice on. For example, girls volleyball continues their training during the summer, and a big part of those practices consists of—obviously—the gym. A sport like cross country also trains during the summer and uses the gym for extensive cardio workouts. While it is not known how these problems will be fixed, The Griffin Gazette will keep you updated on the pause of involvement with the new campus during the summer.
