Seeing that prom is just around the corner, we here at the Gazette see it as our responsibility to prepare our fellow students for the magical night that is supposed to be their prom. However the gazette has also elected to completely ignore that responsibility as if it were that weird person who slides into your DM’s at two o’clock in the morning, and have tasked me to create a scenario meant to “help” all of you who might be curious as to how to go about getting ready for prom (Please note the quotation on “help”). So without further ado let’s witness the train wreck that is my prom night.

Home

Prom is finally here! While this may seem uncharacteristic of me, (I have a reputation for disliking most things), I genuinely like the idea of prom. It is a night for elegance, a night for maturity, a night for a sense of royalty, a night that you will never forge -Feels wrist- annd I can’t find my cuff. “No no no no no!” I shouted repeatedly among other things. How could I have forgotten to clip a cuff? Why am I wearing cuffs? Why does anyone wear cuffs? Why is prune juice a thing? -Car honks- “Hurry up!” Daniel says from the car. Uggggggh forget it! I don’t need cuffs it’s not like anyone will care or notice, “Coming!” -I shouted back before running to the car.

Car

“You have her address right?” -He inquires- “Yeah here you go” -Hands him a slip of paper- “Cool, and where are your cuffs? You look like a dork without them.” “UGGGH!” “Haha dude chill I’m kidding you look fine.” -Glares for a moment- “Is this the street?” “Yeah that’s the one” -We turn in and park in front of her house- Here goes nothing.

Her House

“We are probably going to take pictures so just hang tight” “Alright”. -Goes up to the door and knocks- I will be just fine so long as it is not her mother who answers the doo- “Hola!”...Of course. “Hola!” -I awkwardly respond. Awkward silence ensues- This is the worst thing that could have happened. What have I done to deserve any of this? -She invites me in- I’m fine. This is fine. I shouldn’t think too much...yeah that is better and OH MY GOSH HER DAD IS HERE. -Her father enters the room- *Gulps* just go for the handshake. If I can at least do that then I can make a good impression. -He offers his hand- This is it!! I will do this, even if I die a little inside I will shake that hand! -With extreme precision I extend my hand and make it parallel to his- This is it, nothing will stop me from accomplishing this task! -From the corner of my eye I see her emerge- Oh my gosh. She is so beautiful, I feel so underdressed! I should have found my stupid cuffs UGGH! Hopefully she won’t- -My fingers are squeezed. He glares at me- Noooo! Whyyyy!? I literally had one job and I managed to mess it up. Of course why not? -He releases my hand- “Good afternoon sir.” “Good afternoon”..well this sucks. -Turns to her- “Would you like to take pictures” “Yeah we can do that!” Great. -Pictures are taken- “Alright we should probably get going it is getting somewhat late.” -She agrees and we get ready to leave- “Goodbye!” -I say as shaking her family’s hands. We make our exit.

Prom

I have finally made it! No more stress, no more worries. I am going to have fun and enjoy my dates company… wait really? Nothing bad has happened? Wow ok! Well then I guess I can just enjoy mysel- -More nothing bad- WOW I was definitely expecting something bad. How odd...

Conclusion

In response to the ending, I am aware of the fact that it was not very humorous or good. However please understand that I myself haven’t been to prom yet therefore I have no real experience to draw from. Furthermore, seeing that I do have my prom tomorrow I’d rather not try to predict negative outcomes and instead just enjoy my time. Speaking of that, I also wish for you all to have a splendid weekend, even if you will not be attending prom.
