My Experience As A Performer In The TPAA Talent Show!!

Hey Griffins, I am Savannah Stallworth, and for those who don’t know me, I am a junior and the younger sister of Chandler Stallworth and older Sister of Kai Stallworth. Well, I am going to tell you guys my experience at the talent show and hopefully inspire more people to participate next year.
So I was pretty anxious the entire school day (which, by the way, seemed to end faster than normal), nothing could take my mind of what could possibly happen once I step on the stage. As I exited my last class of the day I tried to stall going in as much as possible, but my friend Valerie dragged me in and told me: “You got this”. As I stepped backstage and began my vocal warm-ups I found it hard to breath, there were so many people in the audience, I spent a lot of my time either panicking or comforting some of the other performances. When the lights dimmed and the MC’s started talking my throat felt tightened I could feel and hear my heart pounding. First up was Lizzy; to me her turn went by too quickly. Following was Vickie; the same goes for hers. Finally it was my turn, I heard them announce my name and I quickly sat at the piano and told myself “Imagine that it is just you”, the curtains opened and I announced that I will be singing a song I wrote called “Save Me”. I started playing the piano and suddenly all my worries went away from the second I opened my mouth to the second I closed it. I have to admit it felt pretty good to have applause. I look over to see my friend Cali tearing up and I instantly begin to tear up as well. When I went off stage so many of my peers and teachers told me how proud they were which made me happy. At that moment I didn’t care if I won or lost. When all the performers went up to sing “Hallelujah” together I looked around and knew that this was a moment I was going to remember for a while. The time everyone was waiting for, the results. Yet again i got nervous again, they announced: third place Ren, second place Room 40, (right then I was sure I didn’t place) and then, first place Savannah Stallworth! I instantly began to cry as my little brother Kai came on stage to hug me. Karen asked the crowed, “who wants to hear an encore?” and they cheered so I made my way to the piano and sang again.
The talent show was an amazing and fun experience and hopefully my story encourages people to participate next year.
